Zillow Gadgets For Your Google Homepage — for Investors and Homeowners

By: Drew Meyers, Community Relations Specialist | February 20, 2007 |

We opened up our databases to the software developer community in October 2006. Since then, more than 800 individuals and 600 companies have signed up to access Zillow’s API and created some amazing stuff — and the developer community continues to add new and exciting features!

Back in September I wrote about the 1st Zillow gadget for Google’s Personalized Homepage. It allows individuals to view Zindex graphs on their Google homepage. Thanks to Mike Henscheid, there are now TWO MORE Google gadgets to share.

The 1st allows a homeowner to track the Zestimate of a single property from their Google homepage. This gadget is configurable — you select which charts to display and whether the chart displays percentage change or real dollars as well as whether you want to see a chart for a 1, 5, or 10 year time period.

Enter your address and preferences via this interface:

Googlehomeenter

This is how the gadget will look like on your Google page:

Googlehomedisplay

The 2nd gadget gives investors — or anyone wanting to track the value of multiple properties — the ability to monitor their property portfolio by tracking Zestimates for up to 10 properties (as well as the sum of those values).

Enter the addresses you want to track using this box:

Investorgadgetenter

The widget will show up on your Google page in this format:

Investorgadgetsummary

Directions:

To add one of (or perhaps both) the new widgets to your Personalized Google page, just follow these simple steps:

On behalf of everyone at Zillow, I have to extend a huge thanks to Mike Henscheid for developing both of these fantastic gadgets!!

Stumble it!

We’ve been able to create less of a widget, and more of a business model. Using the Zestimate as an offer - and one that is considered valuable by web users - we are able to move leads into the financing sales cycle.
