Zillow Dueling Digs – Game On!
By: Martin Szuster, Senior Program Manager | March 19, 2008 |

Have you ever wished you could peer into thousands of kitchens or bathrooms across America looking for your own remodel ideas? Are you looking for decorating inspiration or a new paint color to spice up your living room? Or, for the architecture buffs — wouldn’t it be fun to drool over some of New England’s Stately Colonials, San Francisco’s Victorians, or Seattle’s Craftsman homes?
Try it out — with our new Dueling Digs feature, launched today.
Dueling Digs is an interactive (and quite honestly, addictive) game that presents you with a constant stream of Zillow home photos where you can choose to explore kitchens, bathrooms, bedrooms, living spaces, home exteriors and yards. You’re presented with two “dueling” photos; you choose your favorite and keep going. (If you’ve ever played “Hot or Not,” you’ll get the picture…). Your votes are then tallied with other players’ so you can also see what the Zillow community likes the most — which kitchens are most popular, for example. We have millions of home photos on Zillow and users are adding even more every day, so you can expect to stumble upon new pictures — and new inspiration for your own home - each time you play.
We hope you will find it as fascinating as many of us here at Zillow. When we were testing, we had to tell Zillowites to “put the mouse down” and stop rating pictures because they were forgetting about their day jobs! We would love to hear what you think, or what could make this game more useful or fun. Please visit a special Zillow Discussion thread we created just for this purpose to give us your feedback.
Disclaimer: Zillow takes no responsibility for lost productivity at work, lack of sleep or spats with your significant other as a result of your new addiction.

It will be interesting to see how popular this is to consumers. It is not something that I find interesting but there may be a niche of people who would enjoy comparing and voting.

[...] And yup, I do think about work from time to time over here. For instance, I’m happy to see Dueling Digs launched successfully. [...]
Given the success of hot or not type applications, and home makeover TV shows, I can’t imagine this wouldn’t be popular.
Some of your ideas rock but not this one. Thumbs down.
Interesting. Will watch it..
