The Zillow API is a great way to add local real estate data to your site (for free). In addition to neighborhood and city affordability statistics and demographic data, another thing we syndicate are regional home value charts for cities or ZIP codes — which offer great background information for anyone looking at location-specific data.

Private School Review is a current API partner taking advantage of our regional charts on their school pages (such as on this page for Clearview High School). If you’re a Web developer and want similar functionality on your site, you’re in luck — the folks at NetBeans put together a detailed tutorial explaining how to use Zillow’s GetRegionChart API to add a regional home value chart to your Web site (using NetBeans IDE 6.1).

Here are the Contents of the Tutorial:

Thanks, NetBeans and happy coding!

This kind of information is ideal since it’s exactly what homebuyers are looking for when considering a particular community. Like Zillow API, Long & Foster Real Estate’s corporate website has a living section (http://www.longandfoster.com/Mid-Atlantic-Region.aspx) that includes a list of local stats for the various neighborhoods in its footprint. These stats focus on demographic breakdowns, employment trends, average commuting time, graduation rates, climate, taxes, and a number of other key data points. All of this data is automatically generated but makes a valuable addition to the site.

Need Help Completing Customer API Integration

To Whom It May Concern and Drew,

We have been implementing a Custom Zillow API Integration into our site from the early morning hours of last Friday until the early morning hours of today. We are 90% complete with our project, however it seems that we are missing part of the equation or a small piece of the puzzle. If you can, please visit this link: https://www.uapply.com/indexz.php (This is just a test link) We are aware of having to put zillow on every page etc and the policy’s and procedures, but right now are just working mainly on the functionality of the site tool and then will complete these. As you visit this link, please put in a correct address and search; you’ll see our dilemmas. This brings up a totally different address, comparables and no chart etc.

We have contacted zillow’s partners at http://www.zillow.com/howto/api/APIPartners.htm and still have yet for someone to email us back regarding these issues if they can help or know someone to help us out. We have also tried contacting Kurt Kruger aka ‘witedoor’ from http://mycincyliving.com/ that actually gives some intel on this API tool in the Zillow forums(reference: http://www.zillow.com/forum/site/ViewThread.htm?tid=31798) and we also have yet to hear back from him. We are willing to pay some a small nominal fee to help complete our 90% completed project, especially is there is someone that is really familiar with it and can just point out our issues right away so we may fix it quickly and have it up and running live today with no more issues.

Lastly, we are familiar with the Widgets at zillowlite.com and however they are nice, they don’t fit into our custom layout and design of our site; it’s just really wide as well as the I-Frame takes up too much space for what we need.

If anyone can help, assist, work or even refer us to a correct person that can help complete the rest or our project we would really appreciate it.

Thank you very much for your time everyone,

    God Bless.

    -Mike

    UApply Team.
