Your Final Real Estate Purchase
By: Diane Tuman, Content Manager | May 16, 2008 |
That final bit of real estate some of us purchase doesn’t have much of a view, is in a monotonous, cookie-cutter neighborhood, has poor curb appeal, can be a bit cold, and is brutally quiet. However undesirable that sounds, it’s called the hottest real
estate deal in Halifax, Nova Scotia. The Fairview Cemetery is making 1,260 plots available for purchase tomorrow morning. The last time the cemetery sold lots two years ago, buyers lined up at the door the day before and 118 lots sold out in five hours. If you do buy a plot there, you will be sharing ground with other clients of ill-fated fame — 121 victims of the Titanic disaster are buried there.
Zillow doesn’t have cemetery plots for sale, or real estate listings in Nova Scotia, but we do have plenty of real estate in the U.S. listed for sale– nearly 2 million listings on Zillow! Come take a look for your dream property before it’s time to go six feet under.

How can Zillow.com get away with grossly underestimating home values? What kind of algorithm do you use that ignores two consecutive years of city assessments of a home and focus on an estimate from five years ago before improvements? You are doing grotesque damage to home owners for your own profit and you should be stopped. I sincerely hope you are sued out of existence you arrogant evil people. You are nothing but purveyors of false information. I will file a complaint with the FCC.
There are other websites that offer free home values as a guide when buying a home. From Renata’s comment, I do not understand the reaction, since Zillow.com actually grossly inflating the home values compared to the website Cyberhomes.
I am curious as to why Appraisal companies are not uniformed in concluding the Appraisal value of a house. Some Appraisers conclude very low appraisal, some are moderate and only few Appraisers are using the most current home sales data.
Anyone could lighten up my inexperiences?
Question to homeowners and commenters (Renata) here:
Would an owner opt-out of the zestimate make Zillow acceptable?
