Trouble Registering or Signing In?

By: Diane Tuman, Content Manager | September 20, 2006

We’ve been hearing from a few of you that you’re getting an error message when you try to sign in or register on Zillow. The message you’re seeing is: "We’re sorry, but the e-mail address you entered is already in use. Please enter a different e-mail address."

Here’s what’s happening: If you already subscribed to Zillow e-mail, we have an account for you. You just need to create a password to get things rolling. To fix it, click this link to reset your password. Or, from the Sign In page, click the "Forgot your password" link and you will step through the process.

We’re working on getting messaging up to help users through this process, but in the meantime, this is a little workaround. We apologize for the inconvenience. (As much as you test and plan for every possible scenario, one always seems to exist. Uff da! )

Followed the link, clicked forgot password, but no email. Double checked address, junk mail, signed out & in, still no email.
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks,

Can’t support Safari for the Mac yet? It’s only existed for ages. Not a good idea to alienate the Mac community, please get with it (or get some new Mac and Windows literate IT folks).

    KSUE -
SORRY! SORRY! SORRY! We had a flood of password resets - and then that process got backlogged. We just confirmed that your password reset e-mail was sent. If you haven’t received it, please e-mail me: [davidg at zillow]. Thanks for your patience.

I’m also a mac-addict and I hear ya! It’s actually Safari that was catching up with Zillow, not the other way round - the latest version should be Zillow compatible and we planned to enable mac support with this release becasue of that. Please check that you’re running the latest version of Safari while I follow up with our developers. In the meantime, our site has always worked with firefox on the mac and it’s a GREAT browser!

In case you are watching this post, we’ve posted an update on Safari support - http://tinyurl.com/lfs2l - Zillow won’t work on Safari until Spring ‘07. Sorry. Until then, Zillow will work with Firefox on a Mac.

I have tried to use Zillow on my brand new imac and have installed Firefox. I am able to get the site to download but no view of the addresses I have searched for. Instead I get a blank screen and a faded out Quicktime logo with a question mark in the middle. What’s going wrong?

You also need to install the Flash player plugin from Adobe. You can download it here http://tinyurl.com/rbt8v.

Currently your iMac by default tries to use Quicktime to play flash files. Installing flash should re-set this default to the flash player.

    Enjoy the iMac! (I’m jealous)
