Super Locations… Mostly

Location, location, location. It isn’t just for determining where to buy a home, it is also a critical decision when it comes to finding the ideal location to hold the Super Bowl. Traditionally, the biggest sporting event of the year has been held in warm-weather climates (how did Detroit sneak in there?). My guess is this is due to the fact that rabid football fans would much rather pay to fly somewhere warm for a few days than into cold winters most of the country faces at this time of year.
Super Bowl XLI kicks off on Sunday in Miami between the Chicago Bears and the Indianapolis Colts. In looking at Zindexes for cities that have hosted the Super Bowl over the past seven years (chart above), Miami has the second-best ZIndex at $316,987 while San Diego is through the roof at $504,929. How can people afford to live in these places?
Next year’s Super Bowl is being held in Glendale, AZ, which comes in with a Zindex of $242,906. While we were researching the area, I got a glimpse of the Bird’s Eye View of the new stadium (below) that was in its early stages of construction after breaking ground in 2003. Pretty sweet.
