Streets to Envy

There are many famous streets throughout the world.  There’s Lombard Street in San Francisco, the most winding street in America.  And Avenida 9 de Julio in Argentina, the widest street in the world.  Downing Street also has become quite famous, the home of Tony Blair, the UK Prime Minister and what looks like just one neighbor, the Second Lord of the Treasury. 

A few weeks ago we took a look at the increasing size of new homes in the US.  Well, now lets take a look at the largest homes and the streets they’re found on.  The Zillow data team has pulled together a list of 50 of the top streets in the country in terms of average home size.  We’ve tried to select a list that includes a variety of cities, so even though Beverly Hills has about a dozen streets that make the list, we’ve limited Beverly Hills to three streets.  This allows us to see places that might be a bit off the beaten path, such as the wide open spaces in Tuscon, Arizona.

Here are details of the 50 select streets and their corresponding cities.  You’ll see the square footage in the last column.  Beverly Hills leads the pack with an average home size of over 17,000 square feet.  You’ll also see that Las Vegas isn’t too far behind at nearly 15,000 square feet.  Also, don’t forget to click the square footage number to be taken to a typical home on that street to browse the bird’s eye and satellite pictures.
