Seattle Real Estate Bucking the Trend?
By: Amanda Hoffman, PR Specialist | September 6, 2006
The Seattle Times wrote an interesting piece on Sunday titled "Home prices’ long rise: Is the end near?" While we at Zillow try our best to stay away from dooms-day proclamations, the ever-changing nature of the real estate market is undeniably fascinating. Seattle seems to be a particularly interesting city — while both The Times and our own data show many U.S. cities slowing markedly in home values, the Seattle market seems to be still going strong, albeit not as strong as it has been in recent years.
What is it about the Emerald City that, through dot-com booms and busts, Boeing hires and fires, causes real estate values to continue to rise? More importantly, can it last?
