Real Estate Connect kicked off with the “Blogging Superstars” bright and early this morning. The panel included Teresa Boardman, Kevin Boer, Ardell DellaLoggia, Noah Rosenblatt, and Jonathan Miller. Ardell mentioned that she assigns her clients fake names so that she can use her blog to communicate with them. Teresa gave the advice of that being yourself is vital to build trust with your audience as well as the importance of pictures (consumers love them). I learned something about Noah and Kevin. Noah was a blogger first, broker second, which isn’t the normal path for bloggers among real estate professionals. Kevin is mildly color blind, so if you’re a consumer looking for an agent to give you design advice, he’s not your guy. One interesting thing Jonathan Miller, an appraiser in New York City, said was that the weak dollar is driving demand from overseas buyers.

The second part of the morning featured Doug Lebda, who started Lending Tree and is now President/COO of IAC, giving his entrepreneurial story. I agree with Doug when he said, “anyone who starts a business is halfway crazy”

The 1st Duet this morning featured Glenn Kelmann from Redfin and Lennox Scott. There were two interesting stories from this panel moderated by Brad. The 1st being that Glenn said that a client walked into the Redfin office wanting to buy a home (they didn’t know what to do) — turns out the client didn’t have a computer. I didn’t know that was possible in Seattle. The next story was Lennox Scott soliciting for someone from Richardson, TX from the audience because the city is a test project for a 3rd party mesh network, which is a city wide wireless network 10x the speed of T1 lines. No one, except Glenn Kelmann, was from Richardson.
