Quick Marketing Tip for Real Estate Pros
By: Drew Meyers, Business Development Specialist | January 29, 2008
Dave Kelly, a RE/MAX agent in Southern California, is taking advantage of Zillow to market his services to the people in the communities he specializes in — one of which is Porter Ranch in Los Angeles. Dave has uploaded several awesome photos to the photo section of the Porter Ranch neighborhood page. Similarly, Greg Swann advises posting home photos and calls this “Zestifarming.” Every one of these photos is attributed to Dave’s Zillow profile (so far, Dave has uploaded over 1,100 photos of neighborhoods and homes to Zillow).

If you check Dave’s profile, you’ll see he has over 2,800 views — meaning there’s a good chance many potential clients have come across his profile while browsing Zillow. If you ask me, uploading photos to neighborhood and city pages is a great way to start building your reputation as an expert — since those photos will be seen by anyone checking out the local page in the future.

I’ve been uploading photos to Zillow. Not nearly as many as Dave though. I wish you guys would let us do more with the data though. While Dave has thousands of pictures uploaded. There’s no way to find just his pictures. His profile only shows the last fifteen. Since every picture has an address, some sort of map filter that shows all the pictures would be pretty cool.
My pictures are all of homes that fit a particular architectural style. How neat would a map of just modern homes be, or just bungalows, or whatever?
I can do this myself in Google, I just think it would be neat to be able to do it in Zillow. It’s one more reason to feed you content.

Todd-
We’re currently working on revamping our profile pages — one major improvement will be showcasing all content contributed by members of the zillow community (you can only access the most recent now).
Your ideas about surfacing content based on type of architecture are certainly interesting. Now, if only we could free up some developer resources from our other major projects. Keep the ideas coming!

How does one add an area?
I could not find Big Bear Lake or Big Bear City in the San Bernardino area of CA.
Thanks.
