A Mashup with Zillow Neighborhood Shapefiles and the Zillow API

By: Drew Meyers Community Relations Specialist | January 21, 2008

Last Wednesday we announced the release of neighborhood boundaries in shapefile format via a Creative Commons license. In that post, I mentioned that a mashup with the Zillow API should be do-able and sure enough, just 5 days later, Andrew Mattie (a developer at Diverse Solutions) has created a mashup using both the boundary files and the GetDemographics API call. The mashup has a pretty slick interface that displays neighborhoods in California on a map, along with additional charts pulled from the GetDemographics API.

Click HERE to check out Andrew’s mashup. I’m looking forward to other innovative mashups from the developer community.

If you want to learn more about the mashup and how it was created, please read Andrew’s post on Geek Estate Blog.

I am in need of contacting someone at zillow.com to have a correction made on a property location. The bird’s eye view map of the home and property clearly shows it’s location on the wrong street. How do I contact zillow.com to make this correction? I do not see a “contact us” field anywhere on the zillow website. Please advise. The property address is 1969 Shining Tree Drive N.E. Belmont, MI 49306-8836. In case you can forward this on.
The map should reflect one street to the North. Thank you.

Couple of years ago, all those smart buyers and sellers were looking to Zillow to price their homes or what they should pay for their prospective homes. Truth is, I as a realtor did list one property with Zillow, now that it is sold ( not because of Zillow), there is no where or way to take the listing off. they are so good at getting you in, but no way out, or any friendly way to allow consumers to contact them. Is it possible that someone can email me and give the wisdom to Zillow secrets.

Great work Zillow! You guys need to figure out how average Realtors and users can submit boundary files like the one I did on Atlanta Neighborhoods:
