Diane Keaton Buys Newer Pacific Palisades Home for $5.6 Million
Now this is a surprising role for Diane Keaton. The Hollywood house restorer extraordinaire appears to have bought a house that … doesn’t need a thing!
After years of restoring luxurious Hollywood homes and earning a spot as an Architectural Digest mainstay for the way her renovated homes have been re-sold to other celebs, Keaton is trying something new: Buying a house that’s move-in ready.
Built in 2009, the Pacific Palisades home already has high-end finishes, including Sub-Zero appliances.
According to the LA Times, Keaton purchased the home for $5.6 million. The 7,800-square-foot, 6-bed, 9-bath home has three levels of living space, including an entertainer’s space on the lower level that has a large temperature-controlled wine cellar, movie theater and private gym. Sitting on a nearly a quarter acre, the home embraces an indoor-outdoor lifestyle with a wrap-around grassy yard, pool and spa, as well as patio with grill and outdoor kitchen.
Keaton has purchased in Pacific Palisades previously. She picked up a property in 2007 for $9.1 million and spent two years restoring the Lloyd Wright-designed house before she sold it for $10.75 million.
Of course, the home could just be a “placeholder” for Keaton and her two teenage kids. In the latest issue of AARP magazine, Keaton says she is looking for a new challenge.
So she channels her passions into building a house. Known locally for her restoration efforts, Keaton now wants a new challenge. “The easy thing — and part of me wants to do this — is just to go buy a house and redo it, but I’ve done that already,” she says. It’s much harder, she says, “to create something out of thin air. I never want to stop growing and learning.”
There was no mention of whether Keaton has actually embarked on the house-building project, or if a site has been chosen, but in the meantime, she has a nice, newer place to call home and put the finishing touches on a new lifestyle book due out next year.
Other Keaton properties include:
- a Spanish-Colonial revival in Beverly Hills (purchased by Glee creator Ryan Murphy)
- Lloyd Wright’s Los Feliz landmark Samuel-Novarro House (she sold to Christina Ricci)
- Wallace Neff-designed Spanish-style estate in Beverly Hills (sold to Madonna)
- Bel-Air hacienda designed in the style of George Washington Smith
- Spanish-style hillside home in Laguna Beach
When she’s not renovating homes, Keaton continues to be a star attraction. She was first recognized for her work in “The Godfather” and won an Academy Award for her classic performance in “Annie Hall.”
