David Schwimmer Lists Home for $10.7 Million
Did David Schwimmer swim here?
As the long-time owner of this historic home with the elegant pool that is the centerpiece of the manicured backyard, the answer is “Yes.” But the former “Friends” star is looking for a new watering hole, now that he has listed his Los Angeles home for $10.7M.
Maybe the 45-year-old actor needs more space for his wife and new baby, Cleo, who was born in May 2011 in New York City? Not according to the Wall Street Journal, which said the actor and his wife, Zoe Buckman, would like to stay in the same neighborhood, but choose a home together.
Schwimmer has owned this Hancock Park mansion since 2001, when he bought the 11,000-square foot estate for $5.6M. With 9 bedrooms and 6 baths, there’s no shortage of room.
The current price tag is the result of an apparent slew of upgrades installed during Schwimmer’s tenure at the mid-Wilshire real estate market property. According to the listing, the Mediterranean-style home sits on a 44,540 square foot lot and has been “beautifully restored, adapted and meticulously maintained for today’s lifestyle.”
The main home also features a wood paneled library, a den covered with a stone finish, a new state-of-the-art screening room, a formal dining room, 2 powder rooms, 5 fireplaces and a butler area. The backyard boasts a very elegant, resort-style pool area and manicured grounds, tennis courts and a detached guest house.
While the listing photos show the pool and exterior of the home, it looks like Schwimmer did nothing to detract from the home’s history. Completed in 1926 by the architectural firm of Koerner & Gage whose other achievements include the Beverly Hills City Hall, this historical home was named the 1999 Design House.
