Gerald Ford’s Former Vail Estate on Market for $14.9 Million
Update (2/22/10): The former Vail home of former President Gerald Ford is back on the market for $12,995,000.
A prime piece of Colorado real estate in the Vail, CO, area has hit the market and it’s none other than the home of former president Gerald Ford, or “Jerry,” as Vail locals called him. Ford’s former home, located at 65 Elk Trak, Avon, CO, is listed by Slifer Smith & Frampton Real Estate for $14.9 million.
According to the Wall Street Journal, the seller is real-estate investor Kevin Hayes, who bought the home in early 2007 — a few months after Mr. Ford died — for $6.65 million. Hayes says he spent over $4 million on renovations.
The ski-in/ski-out home is more than 9,500 square feet and has 7 bedrooms and 10 bathrooms. Oh, and a nice lap pool (below) for those who are inspired by Michael Phelps’ feats of glory.
